Sewer Friendly is Interviewed for Second Grade Social Study Class

A 2nd grade class recently was learning about their neighborhood and was tasked to interview local businesses. Sewer Friendly was asked to come to the school and be interviewed by the kids. Some questions that were asked were; What is your business?, What does your business provide to the neighborhood? and what is your favorite part of your job?

Our technicians showed the kids pictures of broken sewers and what can happen when contaminated water leaks into the ground. Sewer Friendly left the kids with some awesome Sewer Friendly gear and even sang Happy Birthday to one of the kids.

Keep our groundwater clean! Learn about Groundwater Pollution with National Geographic!

We are a family owned and operated business. Mike Petelle or "Papa Mike" as his granddaughter Claire calls him has been cleaning up groundwater for years. "That is what we do" Mike says. Claire loves science and we found this article while searching for projects for her to do this summer. We thought we would share it with you.
BE SURE TO HAVE YOUR WASTE SYSTEM INSPECTED BY SEWER FRIENDLY!!!!

Groundwater Pollution for Kids- National Geographic

"The water beneath our soil is a valuable resource. Groundwater makes up about 98 percent of the usable fresh water on Earth. Understanding how we pollute groundwater will help us protect it from contamination and ensure that it will remain available to future generations."

Runoff from a rainstorm filters down through the soil where it becomes part of the groundwater supply in a process called infiltration.

You can help prevent groundwater pollution. Look around your house for old materials that could seep into the ground, such as used oil, paint, solvents and other chemicals. Make sure they go to an appropriate disposal facility instead of into the garbage. Never pour any chemicals down the drain, and try to use natural, biodegradable products. Minimize the use of chemicals on your lawn; for example, help pull weeds instead of spraying them. BE SURE TO HAVE YOUR WASTE SYSTEM INSPECTED BY SEWER FRIENDLY!!!!

Give Back with Sewer Friendly!

Join us in donating to Friends Of The Children- King County.
Giving back to the local community is important to Sewer Friendly. .

"Friends of the Children is a pioneer mentoring program based on the principle that the most vulnerable children can become healthy, productive adults with a consistent, caring adult in their lives. We select young children who are beginning to tumble through a cycle of troubled families, poorly performing schools and guide them to another track. Our professional mentors, called Friends, help to uncover a child’s potential and build a lifelong foundation for success through friendship, advocacy, and education" (The Seattle Foundation)

Giving is easy:

1) Today, between midnight and midnight go to Friends of the Children’s page on the Seattle Foundationwebsite to make your donation.

2) Invite your friends to support Friends of the Children at any level to help us achieve our goal! Share this opportunity via Facebook or email – Send our latest Annual Report and ask your friends to make a donation today on the Seattle Foundation website - Friends of the Children page. Be sure to tell them that every gift at every level will be matched!

3) Follow us Facebook and Twitter to get updates on our progress!

Help us meet our goal of $15,000--because every contribution makes a difference in the lives of our community's most vulnerable children.

More Sewer Friendly Reviews

"While my daughter was on vacation and I was tending the house the sewer lines backed up and made a huge mess.  I asked an acquaintance who to use and he recommended Sewer Friendly.  I called Mike and found him super responsive, first arranging a video assessment of both sewer lines.  One was completely plugged with degraded sewer line material and other about ready to go.  The bids to fix both lines was quite good compared to other bids.  Mike's team arrived on time, dig the digging with proper respect for our yard and the adjoining neighbors, arranged for the inspection and excellent clean up.  If you ever have a need to replace a sewer line (and I hope you do not) I heartily recommend Mike and his team."

"These guys were down to earth and ready to work. They provided one of the least expensive bids (a couple of rip off bids were twice as high as sewer friendly).  They replaced every pipe in my old house from the street to the alley. They "pipe burst" my sewer line (which is what I wanted vs. lining), and replaced my water line. Great bid , and even though they ran into many challenges wit my old house, they never wavered from their price. I also had all my indoor plumbing replaced, they sent Adrian who was awesome (see my green planet plumbing review).  Make sure you get a quote from these guys early and save yourself some time (and money)."

"We've hired Sewer Friendly three times now (for a home inspection, fixing a broken and leaking pipe in our bathroom floor, and replacing a large section of our sewer line in the backyard and adding in a clean out) and have been very satisfied every time. Mike is easy to reach, talk to, and has offered us a full explanation of the issue, his plans, progress, and synopsis when done. One of the times we hired him, we called him on a Sunday evening (a pipe was leaking), and he still came right over and helped."

Get Your Mind In The Gutter...

How many times have you planned on cleaning your gutters only to put it off for another weekend? Maybe it’s because the game is on, or your tired from the work week, or maybe you just don’t feel like doing it! What you may not realize is, putting this chore off for too long can end up resulting in some major home repairs.

The job of a gutter is simple... channel water around your home. If gunk is preventing your gutters from doing their duty, you can wind up with an even bigger mess to clean up.

Congested gutters can result in basement leaks. When roof water overflows from the gutters not doing their job properly, water collects around your home’s foundation. Once this happens, you’re on to bigger problems.

An overabundance of water from your overflowing gutters can quickly kill your landscaping. Once all of your beautiful trees are dead you won’t have to worry about cleaning your gutters!

A jammed up gutter also runs the risk of causing roof leaks, damage to driveways, attracting insects and the big one...cracking your home’s foundation. All of this from putting off a little weekend job.

When cleaning your gutters it’s important to stay safe. Always work from the ladder and never the roof where you run the risk of falling off. If you’re not comfortable with heights hire a service to clean your gutters for you. It’s well worth it. Maintaining this part of your home will save you money in the long run.
